Encouragement – My God Will Finish in Me – What He Started

What an encouragement, God will finish what He started in us.

Based on Philippians 1:6 this new song is a great encouragement to us passing through some rough times looking at ourselves and wondering what is going on. Philippians 1:6 is: Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ,

The lyrics written by Drew Haninger are:

My God will complete in me
My God will complete in me
What He has begun will finish
My God will complete in me

Encouragement, Encouragement
My God will complete in me, in me
Encouragement, Encouragement
My God will complete in me, in me

My God will complete in me
My God will complete in me
What He has begun will finish
My God will complete in me

Finish in me, oh Finish in me
My God will complete in me, in me
Encouragement, Encouragement
My God will complete in me, in me

God hath begun, God hath begun
God hath begun a good work in me
Confident, so confident
My God will complete in me

God is working, God is working
Working in me to will and do
Working in me, working in me
His good pleasure in me

Morning Time Prayer

Morning Time is the Best Time to Connect with God in Prayer

Morning Time is the Best Time to Connect with God in Prayer

Morning time is the best time to connect with God in the Bible and prayer. Before the day gets going, the worries come,  stresses come, the emails come, the phone calls  come and then the other 1000 things that fill a day.  Take time in the morning to connect and contact God the source of our life and our strength. He is the one to help us through.

Just take one little verse from the Bible and let it be your strength today.  Take this verse from Isaiah 40:31 but  they that wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.  Notice all the God action words such as wait, renew, mount up, run, not be weary, walk, and not faint. God fills us with his actions and energy as we spend time with Him.

Morning time is the best time to connect with God.

God’s Word as our Daily Bread

Let God’s word be our daily food, let it be our daily bread.  The verse is Matthew 4:4. But  he answered, “It is written, “ ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God. ’”.

There is much packed in this verse: life, living, live, bread, food, nourishment, the bread of life, the Word of God, God’s speaking, the Bible, verses in the Bible, the very speaking of God, the words of His mouth and the fresh words coming from God every day. Each item will take a whole blog entry to develop.

Forgiveness and Bitterness

Jesus in Matthew 6 teaches us to pray:  “Give us today our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. ”  Then He says:  14 “For if you forgive people their wrongdoing, your heavenly Father will forgive you as well. 15 But if you don’t forgive people, your Father will not forgive your wrongdoing.

Jesus mentions the word “forgive” six times, it must be significant.  The opposite is to hold a bad feeling, and eventually get bitter.  Bitterness is subtle and hurts ourselves more than others.   Both an unwillingness to forgive and bitterness will hinder prayer.  That’s why the Lord mentioned it in Matthew 6 when talking about prayer.

The Lord’s Prayer (6) – Give us this daily our daily bread

Now we come to the next portion of this prayer. Some translations say, “Give us this daily our daily bread.” I kind of paraphrased it, “God, give us today what we need for today.” This is an acknowledgement that God is our source. We shouldn’t look to government. We should not necessarily look to our jobs for what we need. We need to look to God and realize that God is behind government. God is behind the resources in our country and even behind what kind of work we have. This prayer is an acknowledgement that God must provide what we need today and every day.

Along with this I would also mention a place in the book of Philippians that says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but take everything to God in prayer.” A lot of times we worry about things. We worry about how we are going to meet a deadline for payment this month and the month afterwards. We are worried about our house and worried about maintenance on our house and all kinds of things like that. But there it says, “Don’t be anxious, don’t worry, but take it to God in prayer.” For example, if you have a payment that needs to be made, take it to God and say, “God, I am looking to You to be my source. I am looking to You to provide for this need.” In this way we acknowledge God as our source and we are taking everything to God.

The opposite of this is to worry about things. Is this going to work out? No, don’t be anxious. God is going to take care of you. You just need to take it to God in prayer. We can also look at John 6, where Jesus presents Himself as the bread of life. Here, in this model prayer, He says, “Give us this day our daily bread.” In John 6 it says Jesus is our bread. So not only are we praying for what we need physically but we are praying for what we need spiritually.
