Understanding the Book of Revelation

So many people have tried to figure out this book of the Bible. The book of Revelation to many, but not all, is a total mystery clouded in symbols. The key to the whole book, at least one perspective of the book, is shown in the very first verse. The theme and focus of the book is actually so simple, but easy to miss. It’s a theme that hits almost every chapter of the book. It is the main character of the story of the book of Revelation.

Look at the first verse: “The Revelation of Jesus Christ…”. Could it actually be so simple? If you began to scan the book from this angle or perspective, you would notice that almost every chapter has something about Jesus Christ. Well maybe one exception, chapter 13 which is about the anti-Christ. Yes, there are many other ways to look at this book, but I think this is the most important and consistent way to see Revelation.

So now we have a research job to do, highlighting all verses with mentions of Jesus Christ whether directly or in symbolism.

In chapter one, there are many references to Jesus Christ. In the last chapter of the book of Revelation, Jesus is symbolized by the Lamb sitting on the throne. At this point in the book, God is fully in control and evil is pushed out.

Don’t forget, the book of Revelation is the best conclusion to the entire Bible of 66 books.

Jesus as the Focus…

The whole New Testament from Matthew to Revelation, all 27 books has a focus and that focus is Jesus Christ.  So Jesus Christ is the focus of the last book of the Bible, the book called “Revelation”.
Everyone loves a happy ending to any story, and the last book of the Bible tells a happy engine where all evil and sickness is dealt with and God is on the throne ruling over the earth. God finishes the Bible in a happy way.

So watch this short video on “Jesus as the focus of Revelation”

It is called Revelation because the book is a revelation of Jesus Christ throughout the ages till the end of the world where He comes again.

The book of Revelation is a conclusion to the whole Bible. The focus of this book is Jesus Christ. The key verse is the first verse – Rev 1:1 “The revelation of Jesus Christ…”

At the end, all evil is conquered. All evil is thrown into the eternal trash can called the lake of fire. Those who follow evil also end up in the trash.

God is on the throne in a heavenly city, the New Jerusalem. God’s people, who believe in Jesus, will live with Him in this city for eternity and be a part of the eternal happy ending. Again this book’s focus is Jesus Christ. Revelation begins with Christ and ends with Jesus as the Lamb of God on the throne, a happy ending.

Morning Bible Verses – Revelation Chapter 12

The encouraging overcoming morning verses for today are from Revelation 12.  Notice the strong overcoming words like:   salvation, strength, kingdom, power, cast down, overcome, and rule.

Revelation 12:12  I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Revelation 12:5  And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.

Morning Scripture Verse – Revelation Chapter 11

God always wins and the Bible story has an encouraging happy ending. So God in His word, the Bible, the scriptures looks forward to the day where every evil thing is subdued on the earth. At that future time the earth is returned to the original creator and owner, which is God.

Revelation 11:15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. 16 And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God, 17 Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.  This is a wonderful encouraging Bible verse.

God Sees Tears, Pain and Disappointment

When we or others cry, go through pain or disappointment, we have to remember God is here.  God actually remembers all our tears and pain. Look at the Bible verse in Psalm 56:8 … you(God) know my wanderings: you(God) put my tears into your bottle: are they not in your book?

We may think God is remote or does not care, but He does. At the end of the Bible is a promise in Revelation 21:4  God will wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there will be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither will there be any more pain: for the former things are now passed away.    There is also Psalm 34:18 “The Lord God is very close to the brokenhearted and saves everyone who is crushed in spirit.” God is always with us in our pain. Notice, the verse says the Lord is close to the brokenhearted. He is not far away, but right there and with us.

Morning Scripture Verse – Revelation Chapter 10

Revelation 10:1 And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire: 2 And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth, 3 And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roareth: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices.

Some think the “mighty angel” is “Christ”, and some think it is “another mighty angel”.  The rainbow is like the rainbow in Genesis 9:8 where God made a promise to Noah.   The pillars of fire is like the description of Christ in Revelation chapter one.  The lion is like Chist as the Lion of the tribe of Judah in Revelation 5:5.

Morning Scripture Verse – Revelation Chapter 9

Its sad to see in Revelation chapter nine, that after six trumpets of God, God’s judgement, that man still refuses to turn back to God. The word “repent” in these Bibles verses simply mean to turn back to God, or change one’s mind back to God. Man refuses to acknowledge that God is the creator and owner of the earth and the universe.

Rev 9:20  And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk: 21 Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

Morning Scripture Verse – Revelation Chapter 8

Revelation chapter 8 talks about the prayers of the saints resulting in the seven trumpets of God’s judgment. In this Bible verse the saints are the Christians and God’s people.  The first four trumpets are covered in this chapter. The key verses are:

The prayers of the saints are offered:  Rev 8:3 And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.

The prayers of the saints are accepted by God:  Rev 8:4 And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand.

The prayers of  God’s people are answered by God:  Rev 8:5 And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.
