Come Lord Jesus

This is the prayer at the end of the Bible. It is the last prayer in the whole Bible. It is the second to the last verse of the Bible. It is the last prayer and almost the last verse in the book of Revelation. It is the finale, the last prayer made by God in the Bible. The final prayer “Come Lord Jesus”. What a conclusion to invite the Lord Lesus into everything in our life. Not just for Him to come again, as He will one day in His second coming, but to actually let Him be Lord in our lives. So let Him come in and bring our lives back to what He wants to do in us and through us.

God is real, a living person, the creator of the universe, the designer of the atom and DNA. He designed every solar system and every living thing on the earth. So He has plans for our life and what we do. So just pray this final prayer in the Bible from Revelation 22:2o  “Come Lord Jesus”

Revelation 22:20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. 21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

Prayer is Talking and Connecting with God – God is Real

God is real. God exists and listens, we just need to talk to Him.    Prayer does not need to be formal or done in some special place.

Prayer is just talking and connecting to God in reality. Prayer is not phony, and we don’t need to make things up. When praying to God, just start saying what is on your heart as you think about God.  Prayer is a dialog between us and God.  We can pray alone or with others.  We can pray when we love God, and when we hate God. If we are hurting because of something that happened, we need to be open and honest and tell God the truth.

Prayer can be an expression of what we feel when we are very encouraged, or an expression of how we feel when we are very depressed and low.  We can pray when we think we are a perfect saint (but only God is perfect), or we can pray when we recognize we are sinners (and we all are sinners).  We can pray when we are happy and we can pray when we are sad. After praying, we may feel high, or we may feel low, but God is faithful to hear our prayer, and never changes.

Jesus said in John 15:7, If ye abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will and it shall come to pass to you.

The Spirit makes it easy to pray, because He knows how and what to pray.   Without the Spirit, prayer is hard. With the Spirit, prayer is easy.  Romans 8:26, And in like manner the Spirit joins also its help to our weakness; for we do not know what we should pray for as is fitting, but the Spirit itself makes intercession with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Look at the prayers of David in the Psalms. David just talked to God and told Him what he thought and how he felt.  When David was low, he said, “God, I am depressed”, but eventually he learned to praise God even in the dark places. When David was feeling great, He praised God.  Psalms 8:2, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast Thou established praise because of Thine adversaries, to still the enemy and the avenger.

Also consider some of the points in the article on “What is Prayer”

The Lord is My Strength – Prayer

Consider this verse:  Exodus 15:2 The Lord is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him.   In this verse, it does not say to “pray for strength”, it says the Lord is my strength. So the prayer for strength is simply to say The Lord is my strength”.  Just say this a few times, and the realization will hit you, it’s not  asking for strength, it’s declaring the fact about where our strength comes from. Our strength is not a thing, but a person Jesus Christ. This is the best prayer for strength.

God Needs Man to Pray

When God created the earth and heaven, He did not need any help. But when God created man, He intended man to be a prayer partner. In a sense, God waits for man to pray before He acts.  In creation God acted alone, in the Bible age, God works with man. So in the example prayer of Elijah, God waited for Elijah to pray.  Elijah prayed what God wanted to pray, then prayed to God and God answered from heaven with rain. Without the prayer of Eljah, no rain was coming.

So in every situation God is waiting for us to pray before He acts. The phrase below “prayed with prayer” indicates that Elijah prayed the prayer that God gave him to pray. What a cooperation between God and man to fulfill His purpose on the earth..

James 5:17-18 Elijah was a man of like passions to us, and he prayed with prayer that it should not rain; and it did not rain upon the earth three years and six months; 18 and again he prayed, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth caused its fruit to spring forth.

Then in the Lord’s prayer, Jesus also teaches us to pray “Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven”. So God wants us to pray for His will to happen on the earth. His will does not happen automatically, it needs prayer to bring it to earth

Elijah prayed in 1 Kings 18:36

Elijah prayed in 1 Kings 18:36 And it came to pass … that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, … I have done all these things at thy word.   37 Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou [art] the LORD God, …

Every pray is heard by God. Long prayers and short prayers are all listed to by the God of the universe.  Never worry of the prayer is not correct, maybe the wrong words or too short.  Just pray and let God take it from there.

God even loves our short prayers.
