Trust in the Lord

Trust in the Lord – lake in Montana

We trust in many things like food, our house, our job, our bank account, hard work, our family or society. When things do not work we sometimes drop all else and trust the Lord!  But only because we have come to our end, at least we think our end. So now to try to trust the Lord everyday is a stretch for many of us.   Our understanding of life and events is somewhat limited, so that’s why the verse says to not rely too much on our thinking or understanding.  God knows better than us, even though we like to think we understand everything.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding;  6 think about Him in all your ways, and He will guide you on the right paths.

Look at the story of Joseph in the Bible. Joseph had a vision to be a governor in Egypt, yet God let him through all kinds of very difficult trials.  If Joseph had not been Egypt’s prisoner, he could have never been Egypt’s governor.

Every difficulty we pass through prepares us for our future work for God. So right in the middle (but this is hard to do), we need to trust in the Lord.

God Hears Prayer

Look at these verses on prayer in the Bible, God listens to every prayer.  Have this confidence that in every pray, whether it be small or large, whether it be well phrased, or just a bunch of broken words, God listens.  Sometimes what we think are the worst prayers, God just loves, since we are expressing our real feelings.

Psalms 66:19 But certainly God has heard me; He has attended to the voice of my prayer.

Psalms 66:20 Blessed be God, Who has not turned away my prayer, Nor His mercy from me!

James 5:16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. 17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly…

This  last verse in James eventually refers to Elijah who in a very unique situation needed a prayer to bring God in to vindicate Himself.   Elijah did pray and God did come in.

So never feel that God does not hear, He does hear and answer.   p.s.  answers do not always come how and when we expect them.

Prayer – Keep Praying, Your in a Race

The prayer race is not done till the burden is released.  Sometimes this is an answer, sometimes an inward feeling God is taking care of this situation.  But the last prayer is necessary, so don’t give up.

Notice Galatians 6:9 So we must not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don’t give up.

So keep praying, your in a race and prize is obtained when you finish the race.  1 Corinthian 9:24  Know ye not that they that run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? Even so run; that ye may attain.

In its the last lap or last mile that hurts, but that brings us to the finish line.
