Some of us who are very active (like me) find it sometimes even hard to just read the Bible. We always have another idea to develop for some project or initiative, and our minds just will not stop to listed to God’s word. But still its best to try as we can to devote time in the morning to God in prayer.

David prays in psalm 5.  David the author of  this psalm, lifts up his voice to God in prayer in the morning. What a great time to pray and think about God, the source of our life. Morning sets the direction for the day. Our time reading the Bible and praying in the morning is crucial to the atmosphere of the day. The morning prayer time is little like breakfast in the morning, giving us energy to start the day.

Psalm 5:2 Hearken unto the voice of my crying, my king and my God; for to thee will I pray. 3 Jehovah, in the morning shalt thou hear my voice; in the morning will I address myself to thee, and will look up.

Morning Time Prayer

Morning Time is the Best Time to Connect with God in Prayer

Morning time is the best time to connect with God in the Bible and prayer. Before the day gets going, the worries come,  stresses come, the emails come, the phone calls  come and then the other 1000 things that fill a day.  Take time in the morning to connect and contact God the source of our life and our strength. He is the one to help us through.

Just take one little verse from the Bible and let it be your strength today.  Take this verse from Isaiah 40:31 but  they that wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.  Notice all the God action words such as wait, renew, mount up, run, not be weary, walk, and not faint. God fills us with his actions and energy as we spend time with Him.

Morning time is the best time to connect with God.

God’s Word as our Daily Bread

Let God’s word be our daily food, let it be our daily bread.  The verse is Matthew 4:4. But  he answered, “It is written, “ ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God. ’”.

There is much packed in this verse: life, living, live, bread, food, nourishment, the bread of life, the Word of God, God’s speaking, the Bible, verses in the Bible, the very speaking of God, the words of His mouth and the fresh words coming from God every day. Each item will take a whole blog entry to develop.

Daily Devotions – Prayer

Psalms 109:4 “In return for my love they accuse me, but I give myself to prayer”. Or some translations have it “but I am a man of prayer”.  Too many times we are in a big hurry in our time for daily devotions. We just have so many things to do but no time for God. How can we develop a Spirit of prayer if we do not spend time with God in prayer. How can anything be accomplished without times of solitude and private time. So our time when we have daily devotions is crucial to developing a relationship with God.

Prayer and Joy in the Morning

Look at these Bible Passages on prayer and joy in the morning.

Mark 1:35 And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed.

Psalms 30:5 For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but  joy comes with the morning.

More Prayer in the Morning…

Psalms 88:13 But to You I have cried out, O LORD, And in the morning my prayer comes before You. Have you ever woken up early in the morning with lots on your mind?  Well many times this is the Lord calling us to prayer.  Prayer in the morning is a wonderful time of  intimate fellowship with God.  Sometimes its just a groan or a cry or just a sigh.  But it is still prayer.

The Morning Time is Crucial

The Morning time with God in the Word and prayer is crucial to our spiritual life.  Just like breakfast giving us the energy start for the day, our time in the morning in prayer is very important.   We have examples from Moses, David, Daniel, Jesus and others where the early morning prayer was practiced much.

Consider all these verses:

Exodus 34:1 And the LORD said unto Moses, … 2 And be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning unto mount Sinai, and present thyself there to me in the top of the mount.

Psalms 5:3 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct [my prayer] unto thee, and will look up.

Psalms 55:17 7 Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.

Psalms 88:13 3 But unto thee have I cried, O LORD; and in the morning shall my prayer prevent thee.

Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

Psalms 88:13 But to You I have cried out, O LORD, And in the morning my prayer comes before You.
